I love the Ox -eye Daisies ..our road sides are full of them , I should put some in my garden !

If you do, Amy, they will go EVERYWHERE! (but they're easy to pull out, so not a problem.)

I have an area just like you have here under some apple trees Sheila I could do the same as you, it's full of Daffodils in the spring ......

Are your daffs in the grass, Amy, or in a bed? . . . you can't tell from the pic, but this is actually a bed. But OH suggests digging it up come the autumn, because the cow parsley has taken over, and we used to have a variety of wildflowers: vetch, poppies, cornflower, campion etc. We'll just have to see if we're feeling strong enough!

No we don't have a bed Sheila we just put loads of spring bulbs in everywhere , it's a mass of snowdrops first and then daffs plus all sorts of other little flowers in the grass , I like it best in the spring ! it gets mown when they have died down ........ it is hard work digging areas that haven't been done for years I'm not sure that we would want to do it now ..

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if Ox-Eye Daisies will grow in the grass . . . anything's worth a try!

This is so pretty. Do those daisies grow in the shade? I have an area at the front that is next to the road and doesn't do so well under the trees, I'm wondering about turfing it and letting daffodils and foxgloves grow through it? Daisies would look good but I'm not sure if they would cope with the shade?

Thanks Sticki. Yes, I'm sure they will - Ox-Eye Daisies seem to grow anywhere! This pic was taken in a brief moment of sunshine, but the patch is surrounded by 2 apple trees, a greengage and a pear tree, so is mostly in dappled shade. Is your area big enough to have a bed in the middle of the turf for the flowers? (the only trouble with daffs in grass is waiting up to 6 weeks for the leaves to die before you can cut the grass, but no matter if you don't mind the untidy look.)

I was thinking of just leaving it wild as I dont have to look at it!! Is that terrible?

Not terrible at all, Sticki. These days "wild" is good: encouraging biodiversity and all that. :)
