Variegated Agave

How I would love to grow these, especially A.ferox.

Virtually all Agave species grow here...and many have naturalized in large populations in the canyons. Many are blooming now.

Actually looks like one of the many varieties of Furcraea foetida. Otherwise, beautiful!

Any idea which species? I don't think that I've seen one quite like it before.

I've found a few new to me here in Phoenix, too--I had no idea that there was a variegated form of A. murpheyi, for instance!

Yes, there's variegated forms of so many species of Agave. I especially like the variegated forms of Agave attenuata.

I bet many of the variegated forms of Agave don't grow in Phoenix because it's too hot...intense sun and heat can scorch them.

The ones that do well here--forms of A. americana, A. angustata, A. desmettiana, and, now, A. murpheyi--are among the very few variegated plants that can take full sun here.
