This one might be chancy...but I love the colour and I'm putting it in the warmest spot I can find...will get special attention next fall. Says on the label that these will rebloom in mid season.

The rule of thumb that I've always used is find out if it blooms on old or new wood. New wood...spring...old wood..fall.

i think it must be on old wood cos the flowers are on the very tall stems that i didnt prune. so i should cut those back in the autumn? but leave the rest of the shrub?

Just to be absolutely sure, Sticki, I checked out the Proven Winners site and they say that for the var. I have very little pruning, if any, will be needed. But when, or if, it is...it's best to prune the weigela immediately after flowering. From what I read online about these lovely shrubs they are quite carefree...I'm thinking I might try the Invincibelle Hydrangeas from PW...they donate to breast cancer research for each purchase and the blossoms on the Invincibelles are huge and beautiful.

These are pretty, I have one that is bright red but I'm never sure how to prune it and still get flowers.
