Thanks for that info Bjs - they're in pots and I have watered regularly this year (that's not to say I water regularly every year, lol). Perhaps they don't like pots? - in which case I'll have to get them planted in the ground.

Never grown them in pots,they do have very hungry roots so could be.

At least it will give me empty pots to try some eremurus, lol.

I like the colour combo; also the texture combo..catches the eye!

I love the combination. Are the plants more in the sun or in the shade. I would love to do this next year but it would have to be more shade than sun. What do you think? Thanks, Wells. A beautiful dog too.

Midsummer (assuming we have sun) about 5 hrs maximum this would be down to about 3.5 hours now September.
Did you spot the wire around the Allium,they started to bend over possible from lack of light(to shaded) or maybe to much rain.They looked good and produced loads of seed which is a bonus.

Wells the wire has a two fold use,these allium grow quite tall in the semi shaded area they are in the wire stops them bending over also helps to prevent Jamie springer sitting on them or worse charging through them.

One more question, do your Alliums come back, or do you plant new ones every year?

the smaller varieties seem to thrive and increase but the taller ones seem much more temperamental that picture was taken 6/7 years ago one survives there,think a bit to much shade in most parts of my garden.

Thanks, that has been my experience also. The little ones go everywhere, but the spiky ones do not. I thought maybe it was Vermont cold, but really we are not that cold...Definitely behind all of you the other side of the pond. And every winter is different.

Weather has over the years become wetter and warmer in the winter months here,When i started this garden back in the 1960s magnolias I planted flowered mid April now it is often early March,we have cold periods but they often last only a few days
