This is one of two African Tulip trees in this spot next to the Natural History Museum in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. It's just about to bloom, you can see the flower buds. This spot used to have a very tall African Tulip tree which blew down during a big storm in 2004. Photo taken June 11, 2011.
