Lindalooloo:
Thanks! Yes, the the color of the bracts are almost scarlet.
The flowers are yellow and the seeds will be a bright royal blue. It's amazing how beautiful nature is!

Aleyna:
This Heliconia species is native to southern Mexico. However, many as you know are native to Central and South America...there's several native to Southeast Asia, also.

Beautiful it looks like some thing you would see in a rain forest.

It is native the tropical rain forest. This is why it doesn't bloom well when we have droughts here.

Lol you can tell I wstch carefully rain forest programs it was just a guess seeing the foliage. Its such a shame you live in a drought westher country just could imagine your plants if they had more rain.

Yes, if we got more rain it would look very different here. Heliconia is an extremely heavy feeder, also. They're called the piggies of the plant kingdom. LOL! They require tons of nitrogen.

Well they look great considering they are piggies lol .

My dwarf Heliconia only flowered once. This was when I put a whole bag of steer manure on it. I guess I'll have to do that again.

I bet they are so happy not being ruled by a nanny state like here "loose weight dont eat so much eat healthy " lol
9 Jun, 2017
That's very funny! It's the same here.

I have heard in California people are moving out in droves because of this the nanny state.
Recently a friend I know in his 60s his wife worked for a doctors surgery here his doctor told him from the same surgery last week this has had a detrimently effect on our peoples health here he gave an eg dont drink full fat milk drink skimmed milk because of this they are over loaded now with people suffering brittle bone disease.
Another one dont go out in the sun is another , now we are suffering badly with a lack of vitamin D from the sun now they are on great demand to issue prescriptions of vitiamin D at great cost. As lack of vitamin D causes rickets softening of the bones.
Well the big boys like Rothchilds Prince Phillip have said they want the world population cut down to 1 million. Bill Gates is inventing a vacine to stop people breeding.
When I was a kid we played out and worked out doors no protection we did nt have rickets which my dad had born in 1912 etc it was irradicated from then like tb now its all back .
Perhaps they dont need us as in the technology news they are replacing human workers with robots which will take up 40 per cent of manual labour in the near future.
