I too have this in my garden its so beautiful .

When is the best time to prune it?

Hi Scotkat, I usually prune mine 6 - 18 inches from the ground in late winter to early spring.

Wow that is a stunning combination, does it grow very big?

If left unpruned Carole, it can grow up to 10 feet. However, I prune mine (and Cotinus 'Grace' and Buddleia too) down to around ground level in early spring and then it produces large, well coloured foliage, getting up to about 6 feet in height.

Wow must make a wonderful sight, but a little too big for the spce I had in mind;0))
