I like the mix of this one!

18 Jun, 2011

Me too, does it revert to one colour as it matures?

18 Jun, 2011

Thanks everybody ... I like this one when it's at this stage ... it becomes a pretty lilac/blue eventually.

very nice Shirley :o)

Thanks, Sandra. I know Hydrangeas are old-fashioned and possibly seen as a bit 'naff', but I like them! : o )

18 Jun, 2011

That's a beauty Shirley. :-))

19 Jun, 2011

Pleased you think so, Muddy. : o ))

19 Jun, 2011

Agree its a beauty.

19 Jun, 2011

Thanks Carol .. .

I don't think they are naff at all,Shirley..I wish I had the space for one..

20 Jun, 2011

You could always put one in a large pot . . . .

20 Jun, 2011

I could,Shirley..if I had room for another large one ! Might have to extend into the trees brhind the fence ! .Lol.

20 Jun, 2011

Hmm, not sure that's a good idea! : o )

20 Jun, 2011

I think you are right,Shirley..and I would have to take a machete to get through the undergrowth, never mind dig a hole !Done enough of that today, thank you..but that's another story..We are both very cream crackered tonight ! .but to stop you wondering..it all started with planting a rose,in Alison's garden !...tree roots and concrete type soil..I think you get the picture !..Grr.

20 Jun, 2011

Oh dear, sounds like very hard labour for you both! I'm sure Alison will be very grateful though . . . .

20 Jun, 2011

I hope so..It was still in its pot since Mothers day ! Anthony bought it for her, from Thomas..and poor lad just hasn't been able to get it done..but he has kept it well watered and it was fine....took some digging over..but 3 hours later ! it was in position, good compost well dug in,and it is raining hard ,so it will be a happy rose,I hope :o)

20 Jun, 2011

Three hours ... how big exactly was this Rose? lol!

20 Jun, 2011

Not big,Shirley ! but roots from a massive cherry tree, cut down when they moved in,has sent roots all over the border and the whole width of the lawn, with little growths everywhere ! What a job..the one we were dealing with, was more like a branch,as thick as Russell's arm..The previous owner was on her own,and it obviously was too much for her too..All the neighbours were relieved to see it go,as it blocked all their light..and the Rose is called "Lucky." :o)))))).We had lots of Aquilegias to dig out and a struggling Potentilla..so that is now replanted too..and looking good..It was 2pm before we got home for lunch..!

20 Jun, 2011

And I bet you say to Alison "Oh, it didn't take long" ! . . .

20 Jun, 2011

No comment ! :o))..well, maybe I will just happen to say a little something .Lol.

20 Jun, 2011

That's very nice :) Love those colours.

23 Jun, 2011

Thanks, Hywel, wouldn't it be nice if it stayed that way all Summer? Well, actually, wouldn't it be nice if we had some Summer weather too! I drove home at lunchtime in a heavy downpour, with wipers on double speed. : o ((

23 Jun, 2011

I wonder who dares to call hydrangeas 'naff'? Tell me, I'll ave em!! This is a beautiful plant Shirley! I love it!

23 Jun, 2011

LOL, Karen! Probably much younger gardeners ... guess they're not 'cool' enough for a modern garden . . . .

23 Jun, 2011

Never mind the flower, the weather is certainly cool :o((

Anyway the flower will stay like that for ever in this photo. And I've added it to my favs :) I haven't got any in my garden.

23 Jun, 2011

Oh thanks for having it as a 'Favourite', Hywel, and here's to a warmer weekend. : o )

24 Jun, 2011
