Lovely Astilbe Barbara I inherted some in my garden very similar to yours but I guess mine are old fashioned ones as the lady who I think planted them was in her eighties when she passed on!!

How tall is this spritz?

Errr...about 15" altogether, I think. The one under the contorted willow is doing well, but I lost two because they got too dry. My fault - I do know they prefer damp soil. :-(

My soil is very free draining, fairly shady garden and they seem happy enough.

Sounds good, but I have 'Fanal' which is on the stream bank and LOVES it there. The others are struggling in my shade border. I do think they're too dry. They perk up when I give'em a good watering.

Think I.can only dream of having a stream!

We were very lucky to find a garden with a stream. I so realise that! :-)

I have the woods behind me and I love that.

Yes - lovely to look out on trees.

And to walk in the woodland paths.

Got my white ones in a shady corner that doesn`t dry out too quickly and glad to say they are doing well but don`t know the name of them.

I don't think it matters, as long as they're thriving. I think at least one of my older ones has died from being too dry this year. :-(
