This flowers from late May to the first frosts and has the evergreen foliage for winter colour along a fence.
The flowers are about 2.5cm in length aswell as width and look gorgeous against its dark foliage.

This is exciting - I have just bought one in my plant sale - it was donated. So now I have a better idea where to plant it.
I think it will be up the apple tree....:)
Thanks Louise for the tips.

Hi louise, I have been looking for clematis 'tangutica' for a while (had one in a garden 3 houses ago!), I finally managed to acquire one 3 weeks ago -its called 'lambton park' -the flowers are supposed to be bigger(?),and smell of coconut(??!)
I will let you know if either of these occurs...!
I wanted 'tangutica' because of its fluffy seedheads...and because it is evergreen..
Fab foto of a lovely plant!! :-)

Jeanette, keep me/us posted on your plant because i love the sound of it, to smell of coconuts is enough for me !!
These 'Orange Peel' are available in the everyday garden centres, i bought mine from one close to here and i've seen them in independents aswell as the chains.
This one's been in the ground about 4 years now and, because i ike to break all the horticultural rules this one is planted in a south facing position and in woefully dry soil and is battered by very strong winds !!!!
It came through our last winter unscathed :-))))))

I've got a tangutica (didn't know I had) I planted it blind, from a tiny pot, early this spring. It's grown massive in a very short time, I have visions of it strangling my garden. How do you keep it under control? I'm thrilled to learn it's evergreen, although mine isn't as nice a shape as yours, it doesn't turn out at the tip:-)

It's only 'Orange Peel' that has the recurved tip, Ba, as far as i know - that's how you can distinguish it from other tanguticas apparently !
They are quite a vigorous type so you might have to keep it well trimmed.
Mine's been very slow to establish but now it has it's really finding its feet ;-)
