honeysuckle hedge

These are great - we have one that wrapped itself around a dead tree - so we left tree in to let it grow around it :))))

Yes Meanie it can, i have it with my Forsythia and periwinkle all in one hedge that way i can control them.. that sounds great paul i love the smell of honeysuckle..

They grow very well here....it's a shoot with roots on from my mom's plant. Yes, I do love the scent....I cut branches and bring them in the house so I can smell them....

that sounds great Alex, mine is the front hedge so as i come through the gate i smell it all the way to the front door..

It is a wonderful scent Surreylad, I grow Lonicera periclymenum 'Graham Thomas' under my lounge windows. :-))

You're right Surreylad, it's growing through a Wisteria and takes over the 'smelly' duties when the Wisteria flowers have finished! :-)

i love wisteria that must be quite a sight and smell too with the honeysuckle, which one is it?

Thanks to you Surreylad, I've just learnt something. Chinese Wisteria (sinensis) climb 'anti-clockwise' and Japanese Wisteria (floribunda) climb 'clockwise'. I've just hung out of the window to check mine and discovered that I have W. floribunda.
I inherited it when I bought the house so don't know which named variety it is - all I've done is added 'wires' (Gripple System), pruned and trained it. Then I added Clematis viticella 'Etoile Violette' and Lonicera periclymenum 'Graham Thomas' to it.

I've just learnt something too there, i didn't know that... that sounds wonderful and the scent must be lovely..

It is Surreylad, with the windows open on a warm, sunny day or evening, scent pervades the whole house (as planned - it's nice to get something right sometimes . . . lol!). :-))
