Planted in side garden. Had this plant for around 12 years, suffers at wee bit wind burn but can live with that!

This is my most cherished plant in the garden Jeanette, It came with me too this house 4 years ago, so survived the move - luckily it was during the winter :)

nice acer, i got one in b&q last month. i hope in a few years it'll be like this one... bloodgood is a fav of mine.

Thanks Crissue....that would be helpful. Ive had this plant for many years, at least 13 years, it is gorgeous. 1 Stem/Trunk and it is like a purple waterfall!

Hi Scottish she says her is Crimson Queen, and falls just like the waterfall, and purple...You could google, see what you think...
I would like it myself it's a corker for sure...:)))

Crissue...I am gutted - I have found some disease on my plant today. I am hoping it isn't serious - I have asked for advice on Gardening Questions. :(((

Japanese red maple, or Acer palmatum Atropurpureum, is a small maple tree known for its vibrant red foliage. Although relatively hardy growing, the Japanese red maple is susceptible to some leaf diseases.
Leaf Scorch
Leaf scorch is a disease that occurs when the Japanese red maple is exposed to improper growing conditions and too much sunlight. Symptoms consist of yellowing between leaf veins and margins and death of infected areas, according to the University of Missouri Extension. Although leaf scorch cannot kill a tree, it can weaken it, thus making is susceptible to other diseases and harmful insects.
Phyllocticta Leaf Spot
Caused by the fungus Phyllocticta minima, Phyllocticta leaf spot is a leaf disease of the Japanese red maple. Symptoms consist of circular, tan spots with purple to red borders, according to the Ohio State University Extension. The disease is mainly aesthetic and poses little harm to the tree.
Control
Once leaf scorch occurs, it is impossible to cure, but avoiding over-fertilization and using screens to prevent too much sunlight from damaging the tree prevents further damage, according to the University of Missouri Extension. Fungicidal control is an effective method of control for severe infections of Phyllocticta leaf spot,

I found that it is Horse Chestnut Scale, not fatal thank god!! Have been given methods of removal from Bamboo and Dr Bob.
Been to b&q for Meths and will get stuck into it tomorrow.
I will need to look into it further as I have other Acers.
I thought that the only thing that affected these was the wind!!
