Bad news for you on that subject - snails love 'em!!

The Q Vics more than the others. Do I really think sluggy/snail beer traps may do the job? The copper tape wound around the plasitc bottles....the eggs shells, coffee grounds and tea leaves!!

No chance! They're pure caviare to slimey critters!

How do you cope with your Q Vic's then?
I am most certainly 'not amused'!!!

Thanks 6d - the pink one is sooo wrong in my eyes!
Thanks Crissue!
Slug pellets Lulu - it's the only way!

I have the Hadspen Purple Meanie, and it made it happily through both bad winters! I was amazed. Now have a Pink Fan and Blue Fan.

Suckers for punishment...ahh well!

Yes boys were dressed in pink and girls blue hehe

Am tempted with those blue pellets but what about the fledgling blackbirds, even though I don't ever see them eating the snails or slugs....?
15 Jul, 2011
They're supposed to be wildlife friendly Lulu.

Ok, on shopping list! You should see the 'amunition' already around the Lobelias!! It's meant to rain tonight, I will be out with the torch later!

My Blue is just opening now...and the Lobelia Cardinal, is opening too...
Buy the coated Pellets, they wont entice anything except slugs and snails...

Will do! Up at 6am as I heard the rain. Rushed out on snail/slug patrol!!
16 Jul, 2011
lol... :)) It's just started raining here, music to my ears..been waiting a while for this...

Yes, the garden so needs a freshen up! My husband said to me last night, don't water 'cos it's going to rain, I did water the plants that like to be wet. I thought it was like saying to a thirsty child, no you can have a drink tomorrow!
16 Jul, 2011
lol...H watered last night too...never mind it all adds...we've got so many thirsty plants this time of year...hard not to water...
16 Jul, 2011
I had to water my Lobelias and Toad Lilies, they were just too dry.
16 Jul, 2011
Q Vics about to flower any day now, am very excited, sssh, don't tell the snails!
16 Jul, 2011
How did you over-winter the Queen Vics Lulu?
16 Jul, 2011
2 of them were fine in the border along with a salvia, don't quite know how they survived -12? Then I moved those 2 because the Lavatera was growing over them(wish I hadn't put that one in!) Once moved the slugs ate one and I moved the other one near my back door so I could keep an eye on it!! I bought 2 heathy ones from The Bath & west and 3 of the 'fan' lobelias are thriving and a 'sparkling ruby' is flourishing. Can't beat the Q Vic though!

Only -12! That explains it!!!
Yes, Queen Vic is the best, apart from my L.laxiflora.........
