It's still a bit bare on the other side, I'm afraid...but will put up some pics...unfortunately, YDd it's not good swimming weather today :(

Still, maybe later...:)

Meadowland, the Languedoc is really lovely...beautiful ancient castles and buildings, amazing scenery and so much history...I don't think you'd be disappointed! :)))

Oooooooooh....it's in that grey area, in French bureaucracy.....the Mayor agrees, 2 people above her agree,.......but, there is, still, Le Chef d' Architecture et Patrimoine...who never agrees to anything!!! (We've got a beautiful, ancient church within 500m, as the crow flies!)...and I'm really trying to make our house and garden fit in!!!!(well, not the garden...lol!)
...I hate 'im, Mr, le Chef d'Architecture et Patrimoine....

You've got a lady Mayor, is she ok...Our Mayor is ok...helpful..and a nice man does lots for our village..but the Bureaucracy is a hill to climb..

Our mayor is very nice and helpful....French red tape is another story.....

18 Jul, 2011

did i hear french burocracy and red tape being maligned!!! no never....
our mayor is very nice and helpful but for the business end its his secretary! she's the real power behind the throne and super with it
she was the person who was so helpful with the organisation of our daughters wedding, foreign tape-legal stuff etc, but he did the honours and got to marry them...and kiss the bride before anybody else!!
btw it's raining this morning!!!!

Aahh! Then you are extremely fortunate with your secretary! lol! Ours is the one who makes everything difficult...
...on the other hand, the secretary in our old commune was just the opposite....we got married there...:)))

it's just cold and grey here today! :(

Our Secretary is good too...i had lots of palavar getting sorted out with my Carte Vital..but once it was sorted, and a few bills later, everything has run smoothly...Once you're in the system...they have all info for all departments...Still want a lot of form filling done though...

18 Jul, 2011

I know that one, Sue...OH went from a SARL to salaried, so the cartes vital had to be changed...different assurer...long business, lots of visits to different offices...

...for this we had to get a replacement Livret de Famille, because the original had an accident, which involved going to our old Mairie... Both the mayor and the secretary just laughed when they saw it...and wrote out a new one, there and then... :)

Oh that reminds me of a Document that came from UK and it got sliced on opening, and a whole piece was cut out...So H went gingerly to the mairie, and the Secretary, just laughed, stuck it all together, and wrote a little note to go with it with an offical stamp...Then it went on the Prefecture at Poitiers...

By the way have been waiting all day for the delivery, and went onto tracking, and Fedex have marked it not able to deliver, wrong address...so I've sent them a note on their official Form...so I now wait for a reply, not a happy bunny... :((

That happened to me when I paid the extra to ensure daughter's passport arrived in time for her to go to Scotland to start her course...TWO WEEKS later, it arrived back at the embassy in Paris. They were very good though they reposted it that day...ordinary post and it arrived the next!

WOW...that's the UK for you...we've even sent recorded delivery mail...and normally you get the return card saying its been received delivered by La Poste...they don't even bother to acknowledge...Any important stuff we always sent recorded in France too...Companies have a habit of saying its not been received, if you don't get it recorded...which is infuriating, bearing in mind how they love shuffling paperwork...We have spent the last six months toing and froing between us and the prefecture at Poitiers, getting a carte gris for our Caravan which is English, being re registered in France...we send recorded all they ask for, then they send back asking for something else...we just sent the last bit of paperwork, yet again...officially stamped this time from our Mairie....

OH tried to register a BMW Z3 a few years ago...apparently the tyres were too big and couldn't get a certificate of european conformity...they were the right size for the model - which was a European car!!! Got so complicated, we sold it!
...we're off back up to Angouleme tomorrow, to sort out all things to do with cars and driving licences...
...it'll be a long day... ;)

18 Jul, 2011

good luck.... we gave up on that one...we bought french...lol....sometimes it's just not worth all the time and energy.... :(((

19 Jul, 2011

So, true....
