It sure is! I've seen the mangoes on the ground rotting.

They would go very well in my rum punch :o)))

I love mangoes but it's hard to find good ones here.

I love mangoes, also. It's difficult to find good mangoes in the stores here, too. The best, of course are home grown. Although, mangoes are grown commercially in parts of San Diego County and the Coachella Valley east of San Diego County in the desert. The Coachella Valley mangoes (Keitt variety) are the best tasting large mangoes I've ever tasted.

Good in my "carribean curry" too, which could be washed down with rum punch!

Best bet for half decent mangoes over here is Lidl or the bargain bin of my local Tesco Local.

Mango is good in curry and chutney, however, there's nothing better than picking a sweet and super juicy mango right off the tree and eating it. It's the best! :>)

The problem with store bought mangoes imported here is that they have to go through a hot water bath...which means they're cooked This ruins the fruit's flavor, in my opinion. The mangoes grown here (in CA) don't need to go through this process.

I agree with Meanie. best Mangoes I get are in Lidls.
They sell the fibreless ones too, and they have been very sweet and juicy.

The fiberless varieties are the best! This is why I love the Coachella Valley Keitt Mangoes...they are fiberless and are very juicy.

I love mangoes, also. It is a waste. However, this tree is allowed to carry too many mangoes...they should be thinned out.

Bananas, mangoes you must be pretty healthy with all this lovely fruit literally on your door step.

I used to have a small mango tree in the ground, which produced nice mangoes. However, it was crowded out by other plants and died a couple of years ago. Mango trees need to be in all day hot sun...the hotter the better.

Bought some fibreless Mangoes in Lidls today.
They were on offer 50pence instead of 89p.
Checked the boxes to see what variety they were, but it didn't say. :o)

I would guess that was grown from seed,not a grafted tree. The fruit on seedlings tend to be smaller...but taste wise are fine. Maybe a bit more fiber then the grafted types. But,the seedlings are VERY robust growers. For a marginal climate,that's a good deal- free and hardy!

The fruit on this tree is large. Right now it's loaded with large ripe fruit. Most mango varieties ripen in late August through Oct.
