I gave my mom a couple of seedling and she has flowers before I do!!! She has hers in a pot and I planted mine in the garden. Wonder where they thrive best!?!?!?!
They are beautiful flowers.

lovely Alex, i think some plants suit it better in pots as they like being cramped together if you know what i mean so maybe thats the case with these, they are pretty.

Thanks Yorkshire and Meanie.

Sanbaz and Plantoholic, thanks.
I think it's more of a case of good soil and a little bit of shade. My garden has terrible soil and no shade at all. I'm working on it....

That's incredible the Belamcanda chinensis was grown from seeds!
Glad to to hear the Markhamia lutea seeds are germinating for you. I hope you can get the Markhamia zanzibarica seeds to germinate! Mine still haven't germinated. :>(
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...as the those seeds are very fresh, the seed pods were only picked from my tree this last spring. My Markhamia zanzibarica has been blooming for the last almost two months. I'll post some pics.

Delonix,
I kept seven Belamcanda Chinensis plants, gave my mom a couple and a couple to my mom-in-law. I'm hoping the flowers are all just a little bit different.
I'll keep you posted on the Markhamia Zanzibarica seeds...
My Plumeria plants are growing soooo fast. I'm probably going to have to bring them in the house September or October depending on the weather...they are so beautiful now.

Yes, definitely keep me posted about the Markhamia zanzibarica seeds. I've had no luck germinating them so far. :>(
So glad your little plumeria trees are doing well! They love heat. We've had really hot weather, however, today was kind of cool....only a high of 80ºF/27ºC today...it's kind of refreshing, though. :>)

OOOhhh, 27C sounds like winter to me now. We are suppose to hit 40C today....ah. Running out of energy this week, it feels like I'm dragging myself. Really can't wait for cool weather now.
Just one Markhamia Lutea seed has germinated so far. I check on them a few times a day...

It's even cooler today, only 77ºF/25ºC. which is very, very cool (like a winter's day) for this time of year (77ºF/25ºC could be our low temps for the day). It's not unusual for it to be 104ºF/40ºC or hotter with humidity this time of year. I'm very thankful it's not that hot, though!
I hope it cools down a bit for you! I can certainly relate to your suffering from the heat. We've had some really hot and humid weather this summer (inland San Diego), so far. I DON'T LIKE IT!!! LOL!
Glad to hear your Markahamia lutea seeds are germinating! They should germinate over a 3 or 4 week period. Once they germinate they can grow very quickly.
