I have a fascination with snakes and set up places for them to hide in one of my fields.

It's called a Brown Snake (Storeria dekayi) and it's non-venomous. I was surprised it didn't try to bite me when I picked it up. The one in the picture is one of the larger adults I have seen, they are pretty small snakes. The only venomous snake where I live is the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake but I don't see them very often.
