Lovely - the leaves are very dark and really glossy aren't they?

..it only just made it through the winter, I'm so glad it did...lovely shiny leaves and bright white flowers to cheer up the shady spot on the fence :))

Karen do the branches on this one snap very easily. I ask because I bought one I think its called Donard seedling and the twigs and branches are very brittle and snap easily.

Sorry Stroller, I don't know the answer to your question. I've planted them both against the fence, so I don't walk past them at all, and the dog hasn't done them any damage...yet! I'm sorry to hear that though, I find that very frustrating...my Cercis Canadensis Forest Pansy is awful for it ....you only have to touch a branch and it snaps off...really annoying!

Stroller, that shouldn't be, the stems are quite flexible and bendy, with age they can get a bit more brittle but definately not the new growth.
They benefit hugely from hard pruning so always do that regularly Stroller.
