Thanks all....
Shirley...This used to be our old Chickens Yard.....we made bigger accomodation for them earlier this year, so the soil has been for two and a half years fertilised by the girls....and as you say very 'workable, just wish it was a bit bigger....

You are lucky to have space for veggies..i dont have any more room! If only fat lazy neighbour would get off his backside and turn over the garden Iwould grow veggies there..he said I could..too much for me to dig over tho with a bad back!

Everything is looking very tidy out there.

Thanks Pixi & Frybo...
Pix have you not been able to borrow a little Rotovator at all it would make the job so much easier for you...!!
The other thing if you can find room is growing veg in containers...have you seen Claires pics, she's got all hers in containers, can be done...just buy a bigger shoe-horn lol...

Thanks Stripes...another cat lover, great...The French Vegetable gardeners really set a high standard here, with the Veg...every row is perfect and no weeds...they do look nice though...with rows of Roses or a row of flowering plants to help with aphids and colour...I might do it with Marigolds next year, Aphids don't like the smell from marigolds, or my Garlic aphid spray lol...:o))

Good idea! be careful!!!!!!!!!!

I will Pix...what I meant is I'll get OH to get up the ladder and take a pix lol...and I can take the credit...:o))
We've got pesky Moles come up in the new pathway, great mounds of soil, pushed up through all the bark I laid...I like the texture of the soil when they've finished so I'll pop that on the garden...but it's a right pain having to clear it all up....

Hahaha!
Moles! never even ever seen a mole! lol
7 Aug, 2011
You sure don't want them in your garden, they can make a right old mess of a Lawn...grr
7 Aug, 2011
I bet! eek!

Yes and they're only tiny things. I was surprised when I seen my first mole. The veg patch is looking good. Pixi, I planted potatoes in my neighbour's garden. Kept the weeds down, also meant to clean the soil. We split the harvest so everybody's happy.

Thanks Whitelillies...We're glad to get as far as we have with it...and it's lovely and fertile after being our chooks yard...planning on much more for later...and I've got a spot for potatoes at least for 1 year....
10 Aug, 2011
The chickens will have made it very fertile and the potatoes will taste great.

Yummy...:o)))
10 Aug, 2011
Thats what I'd like to to do WL but its getting all the weeds and grass out first! Grrr My back isnt up to it..still no sign of a rotovator anywhere :(
10 Aug, 2011
Perhaps Pix if you ask one of the GOYers that may be near to you, you may get to borrow one...
10 Aug, 2011
