Here they come. How many do you still have? You had so many last year. I wonder if the colors will show more variation this year as they mature. I've noticed mine will change a bit year to year.

Yes. All the Amaryllis I currently have are the ones I have grown from my own saved seed.
With so many it's difficult to say if the colours change from one year to another! Besides this is only their second year of flowering!
I don't know how many I have at present as I haven't counted them! Last year I lost some as when I planted them in the allotment soil some bug bored into the bulbs & ate their hearts out! :-(( I noticed that some weren't growing like the rest but I had no idea they were being eaten alive!
On lifting the bulbs in October I noticed a small hole just above the basal plate on the poorly bulbs, some of which felt very soft. I examined every bulb & threw out all those that had a hole just above the basal plate. As many of the healthy bulbs had produced more offshoots I ended up with a similar number to what I started with.
This year I've left them in their pots, mostly 6in ones, I don't expect them to need bigger pots in the future. I am going to let them dry out this winter instead of keeping them green all winter. I just don't have the space for so many bulbs. I shall pot them up into new compost when I wake them up from hibernation. But I shall try & do that gradually so as to have as many as possible flowering over a longer period.

Great thinking. Wouldn't it be something to have half a year of blooms or something. :-0

It sure would! :-)) If I could get just one to flower each week ... imagine!
