I love what you have done here Bloomer, its all goes so well and really flows. Did you do it all in one go or was it gradual?

Thank you everyone, what lovely comments from you all..a shame the far side border looks a bit bare now,but I had the Delphiniums there, but all cut down now,and the Lychnis,as they were looking straggly..but they are growing again .:o)
It has been a gradual process,Denise..as we had a horrible lawn where the gravel is..but the stone circle was done almost as soon as we moved here ,nearly 10 years ago..The planting has evolved quite a bit too,all trial and error..but I am quite happy the way it is now..well,almost..we always like to ring the changes ,don't we? but that is mainly the small plants,..some look good, and some either die or not the best position for them..or I just go off them ! but the backbone of it will stay the same..

I think all good gardens evolve over time Bloomer I am never happy with mine and am always making changes, but thats gardening!

Now I am not a straight line lover..but this combo of angles, lines and circles is immensely pleasing to the eye. Im really impressed with this layout!

Oops, didnt mean to sound like a tv pundit here..

You don't,Tet..I know just what you mean..we have a lot of boring straight paths all around, which were mainly done by the builders..not all our choice..so I tried to soften it with the circles..it would have been far too expensive, and time consuming to change them,so they had to stay. The plus side,is that I can access everything in the borders, hang the washing out, etc, without getting my Purple slippers wet ! :o)))))))

THATS what I call good designing!!
;-D

:o)).More of a practical person ,than a designer ,Tet ..no outrageous modern stuff here..!:Lol.

anyone would think the design world consisted only of Gavin Duirmid or however you spell it and there have been some Chelsea Gardens I wouldnt give you tuppence for. But most ordinary good gardeners, pick them apart and get the odd nugget you can use in your garden. Anyway, our gardens need to be practical to fit our lifestyles (and age!) and dont we all manage to make them beautiful too, hey???
So forget those outrageous prima donna's, Bloomer, I have never enjoyed gardens as much as I have visiting Goyers gardens whether in person or online!

Tet, he is Diarmuid Gavin, LOL. !! I liked his garden in the sky this year, but other things he has done have been far too wacky. I agree we need good practical every day gardens done our way! (and for our age as you say!) The saying 'beauty is in the eye etc' is so true.

Well, by the reactions on here, we must be doing something right..I certainly enjoy other peoples gardens!
21 Aug, 2011
I agree,Tet..and Grandmage..I really love seeing everyone's gardens on here, and it does give us some great ideas,or plants to try..wonderful..more knowledge gained than ever I imagined, when I joined..:o)

Thanks for both your comments W1nk.:o).it hasn't really changed a lot in the past two years since this was taken, just more mature, and a bit of tweaking here and there,as you do..I'm still happy with it,and not sorry we got rid of the lawn in the centre...so much easier to have pots on gravel..
