OOH, you are so lucky being able to grow such delights! They look yummy! Ah well, back to Morrisons..........!

I agree we are lucky...We acquired a standard Fig tree not so long ago as a freebie with a Cherry Tree we bought...and the fruit is ripening on that too...Not everyones taste but looking forward to that too....

2€ each, the melons are this year, from the farm up the road! Shocking!!

They look yummy Sue..but well you know I cant eat them :(

Are you allergic, Pixi?

20 Aug, 2011

Morning ladies...
2 €uros ....wow we saw them yesterday for 3 for €1.50
that's dear...
Shame Pix...still it's not worth upsetting your tum....
What was nice, is where i'd left it a couple of extra days before eating, wow the smell of pure alcohol....not in the taste tho....We had it with Vanilla Icecream...

Morning, Sue! It certainly is...considering that this is the Charente!! Tourist season, though...everything goes up! :(((

20 Aug, 2011

When you go over take if you can, some seeds with you, you'll have the climate to grow...and when you come back you'll be in time to get the plants here to grow your own next year...

20 Aug, 2011

I don't think I'll have room to grow them there, Sue! Grew them here last year...everybody does...but they took over everything, this is their natural habitat! lol! Charentais from Charente!! :))

20 Aug, 2011

They only take over if they are allowed to run free...like Cues, courgettes etc...We stop our plants to get the best quality of taste...ooh er C from C....did I need a geography lesson...lol....

20 Aug, 2011

Lol! ;) Luckily all my neighbours have the same problem...no shortage of donations! lol! :)))

20 Aug, 2011

How fantastic! Not wanting to sound to stupid but I bet your home grown melons are a lot taster than bought ones. Lucky you.

20 Aug, 2011

Hi Jenny...It's like all home grown Fruit & veg...always tastes better...no additives, and from vine/plot to table....
As we've generally got the excellent growing temperatures here, I'd like to try some other fruit, don't quite know what yet, have a few ideas in my head...:o))

Looks lovely Sue, how about a Kiwi plant ?? I brought one earlier this year and it's got a few baby Kiwi's on we shall see....

20 Aug, 2011

Good luck on that one , Stripes! Is it self-pollinating?
Please water it well.......!!!
...and not too much sun!! :)

20 Aug, 2011

Oh Stripes that sounds exciting...I'd be quite happy to turn a bit more of my garden over to growing Fruit & Veg, so many people of late are concentrating on producing as much as possible for themselves...to eat...I was watching a report the other night where it is likely that our fresh food stuff is getting more expensive to produce so therefore more cost to the consumer...
