Leaping Salmon

Not my fave colour...but congrats on getting it to flower again...it's a nice shape...hope it has good scent. I just noticed a group of buds on one of my new climbers that is yet to flower, so I am really looking forward to them coming out! Love it when you get a nice surprise! Happens a lot in the garden doesn't it...one of the best things about gardening.

Sure is, talking of climbers I agree with your comment the other day about climbers taking a long while to get going. They are dreadfully slow, mine from last back end just starting to put on some growth at last, I was beginning to think that they had sent me bush roses and not climbers. lol. By the way this does not have scent I have not noticed any it was supposed to be a nice smelly one but nope not in my garden anyway.

I quite like this colour Karensue, but I just love all roses.

It would never do if we all liked the same things, the gardens would be boring. I like lots of colours because I think a garden should shout out big and bold, lol. Everyone is different, I love how you mix your colours Karen but that would never be enough for me. lol. Everyone is different. I still like to see your colour scheme, it is so very well matched and contrasted and I just love it, it takes too much thinking about for me though. I suppose the style of garden I have also needs bright/bold colour rather than more subtle
tones and colours. Bye the way how is the hot border this year.

The hot border is lovely...a bit cramped. Today I had to remove a plant because of overcrowding! Lovely just now with scarlet gladiolus and orange osteos and niobe and summer song rose...another rose is just about to flower, one that is unknown but very similar to summer song. There are two red dianthus at low level, and three perennial chrysanthemums which are all lovely autumnal shades, burnt orange and burgundy I think.but no visible buds just yet. Only one thing is not 'right' and that's the lovely blue clematis 'blue river' which was planted before I decided to make it a 'hot' border...not to worry, it looks great anyway!! Some lovely dark red nasturtiums in there as well!

It sounds really lovely that, bet the nasturtiums are great in there, I like the olde worlde plants, especially since they have spiced up the colour palette. How is the painting going talking of palettes? Hope you are sticking with it and not getting too frustrated with it all.

Still working on it, but waiting for some thick layers to dry at the mo.

Do they take a long while to dry, I wish I could paint. I am envious, wonder where that talent came from. Certainly not me or your father. lol. only painting I have ever done has been with the gloss on the doors or emulsion on the walls. lol.

Well, you won't know until you try! When you paint with oils you need to use thinners and oil (linseed etc.) in different quantities ....it takes a bit of practice that's all, and there are plenty of free websites that tell you how. I am trying to do a bit of 'impasto'...basically, thick paint on the canvas...so it has a lot of oil in and takes a long time to dry, but I am going to use a special impasto medium (gooey paste) next time to see if that's better...just experimenting really, learning as I go.

You never know I might just have a go one day when I am getting bored with gardening (might be a long time though before that happens). lol. Evening classes maybe one day.

Well, if you like evening classes, but you know I read a really good quote today, can't remember who it was now....something like "There is no must in Art because Art is free" ...just get out the paint and brushes and express yourself freely!

Morning ladies...Sun has his hat on for a while....Quite a pretty Rose Barbara, nice colour...
I think my climbers have been slow to get going this year, compared to last year...but there are lots of buds appearing now...so I live in hope...A nice Rose in the front garden, that I can't find the label for has just started flowering after 18 months... must take a pic to show you, and Sutters Gold...is in bud for the second time this year, which is a bonus...I think its because we built a new front garden around it lol......so it doesn't feel alone anymore....:)))

So nice to be able to paint...I would just love to sketch, I might just do that Karen, and get a sketching Pad, and Pencils and have a go...no-one can see me mess up...:)))
