A large Shaving Brush tree at Morton's Botanical Garden in Palm Springs, CA. It's too bad it's not blooming, as it's an extremely showy tree when it blooms in winter. Photo taken Aug. 20, 2011.

Yes, it has an open look to them. They grow pretty slow in San Diego in the ground, also. In Palm Springs they love that extreme heat!

Ah,I see that open look they have in pots continues in ground. Slow- very- in pots up here..it does pick up speed in ground.
