Even when the flowers are past their prime they're worth keeping for the dark seed pods.

I should have put it in a bigger pot really, but decided to leave it until next year when my tender bulb bed will be ready.

Yes you should of but some plants thrive on smaller pots why I don't know perhaps less root more flower lol.

I have heard said that plants with spear shaped leaves like to be pot bound. I've just got a Ferraria crispa, and reading up on that on the Pacific Bulb Societies website it says that the corms may do better if they're not separated.
