Thanks everyone. The Hostas are a bit worse for wear now, so this bed should give them time to recover and settle in for next year...
Pix...they're smoothered with coated pellet, can see where the snail beggars have been, but can't find them grrr...

Thanks Moti...will try anything that helps...I used coated pellets loads of, and I've been and looked this morning, and so far so good, no sign as yet...
