Wonder what you do with the seeds Sue.... they are edible and highly nutritious. Katharyn Ellwood says always to carry some in your pocket.

I dry them and feed them to my Chickens in Winter to help the oil in the feathers...I know they are good to eat too...:)))

I looked at the face on this Sunflower this morning, and it's changing, it's got a pretty orange circle running around it...I quite liked it...prob take another pic...

Katharyn Ellwod has been nutritionist (spelling not right)
in the university of Maryland and she had said to eat them as they are. Any fried stuff is tasty but there is no food value except more calories from the oil. Here we pound the sesame raw with jaggery and make them into balls. Very tasty. I don't do pounding.... so I just heat them up in a pan till they turn brown and then we eat mixed with treacle. Don't know whether you are familar with these 2 words, treacle and jaggery......made out of either palmyrah palm or the coconut palm it is sweet on it's own.....

I know the Treacle...and coconut palm oil we use for cooking...
