A collection of Crocosmias!

A collection of Crocosmias!

Crocosmias have really beautiful flowers that light up the border. This is a collection of some of the Crocosmia flowers still on show in the garden.

I will pop out and have a look. I will have a label somewhere in the border......
Back in a bit.

they are all lovely.

I can't find a label for the 10 o'clock one: the slugs must have eaten it or its hidden in the undergrowth.
The one at 8 o'clock could be 'zambesi'. The flowers are about 5cm across and open flat so you get a godd display. They are really nice plants. I am trying to persuade the Manager at my place of work to do a border with a variety of Crocosmia in.

I love Crocosmia they are such bright colours and seem to keep going for ages. I am filling gaps in all around the garden with different colours, some are very similar, I bought a new one to me this year, called Jackanapes, it is a two tone orange/red one and it is pretty amazing. Very bright. Lovely photograph Gdad :o) :o)

Its not 'zambesi' its 'limpopo'!

they also spread so you get lots of nice bright colour without great expense!!!

limpopo look lovely ~ thanks GD, those slugs should be called thugs ~ eating the plants and now the labels too!!

One on my list for next year is Crocosmia 'harlequin'. This has bright yellow flowers which are orange and red on the undersides.

I have run out of the organic slug pellets and they seem to think its okay munch my garden. Off to the shop tomorrow to get some more slug food (pellets).

i hate the way more slugs arrive when you put pellets down. im wondering about going back to the liquid stuff they dont like??

Try 'Slug gone' Sticki..organic and brilliant..a bit pricey, but it works..cheaper in the long run, than buying ..or losing..your plants..:o)..google it,so you can see how it works..

it would be worth it to get rid of them ~ how often do you need to use it and which is the best supplier ~ is it only available on line?
thanks bloomer

It is widely available at good garden centres now,Sticki..it was formerly known as Sheep--it and that is how it was spelt ! It is in pelleted form, and also acts as a fertilizer..well,it would, wouldn't it ??.You just dig it into the soil..the wool fibres in it,sticks their feet, and dries that slime up,and their bdies..so they die ! I have used it for a long time now.Our garden centre has it on offer at the moment for £4.99p for a large bag,but you can get it in small bags too..maybe that would be ok,if you just wanted to try it first..
