Yes I think its the freakin weather! Its madness..I got RUdbeckia jsut flowering more to come and sunflowers not bloomed yet.roses dying even has a couple of Clematis flowers its a pring fowering one..what is happenin'?

Saffron?? I was wondering a bit when I saw the stamens...knew it came from a type of crocus,but always thought that it only grew in the rainforest! thanks, KS!

...Just wish I'd not dug so much of it up, earlier in the year, now! I'll have to let it regroup...and judging by how much I missed, it may not be all that long!!!

I quite like the idea of growing plants which can be used. You may be right, KS and Scottish...k-ching!! :)

Maybe you need to get some of this going, Pixi - I think that saffron is one of the most expensive substances on Earth, dearer than gold...k-ching!! :))

Sadly Pixi, you can't grow them successfully in this part of the UK....but of course in Saffron Walden, in Essex they used to grow it and harvest it...that's how the place got the name. But the saffron that we pay 'loadsamoney' for...I think...it only comes from the blue autumn crocus? I might be wrong, but I seem to remember a programme about it on the telly.

It's worth looking into, KS...going to investigate...
...if it's possible for me, then it might be worth it...even if I only got the tiny amounts I use each year! :)

I have very few pictures of myself Lil. I hate getting my photo taken. I feel very self conscience...I may look something out of the photo box and take a picture with my cellphone - will see!

Trust me Scottish, I think many of us share your feelings, including myself. I think we are often most critical of ourselves than others (hopefully). :)

I've been thinking about it, I have a great shot of me with a little bit of 'wildlife'....must look it out now!

It was on holiday in the Philippines Lil...the zoo in Subic Bay - a chance to bottle feed the Tiger Cub...I couldn't resist. A chance to go in the cage with a much larger one - couldn't resist that either. My Ex has this photo so I can't display that one. We went on a safari to feed the tigers in the 'jungle' that was absolutely amazing. They are by all accounts a reputable zoo unlike their counterpart in Manila! I love tigers - in fact all the big cats amaze me!

Very true about the Ex's Lil!...and agree about the big cats, Scottish! We managed to get within three metres of a lioness and her five big cubs...They really are awesome creatures...much bigger close up than I imagined them to be...

I'm so jealous you saw a lion and her cubs. Was going to go to Africa on honeymoon (ha bloody ha!) but that obviously didnae happen (thank god!!)

You will get there....just had a look online at some pictures. It looks very much like many of the places I have visited in the Philippines - one thing I always told myself when I was getting rather peeved off with things was 'Remember where you are'....it helps when you get exasperated with how slow things move!
