'ORRIBLE FAT SLUGS

You know what, I think those things attract them to the pot. Then they leave that awful slime behind.

OMG - the slime. It's horrible, thick and gooey, yak!

Horrid beasties! hate them!

I saw a tip on TV re the slug pellets Sheila...only 4 or 5 per plant. If you put as much as this down it attracts them for miles. I have used a fraction of what I normally would and have seen great results in the areas I haven't used beer in!

Have you put enough pellets down Sheilar, I thought they were gravel hahahaha..

I don't normally have a problem with slugs and snails, it's just since I put that little chrysanth in - must have attracted them for miles!!! I was upset when I saw the skeleton of the plant they'd left that I thought I'd get them back with the slug pellets.

Dont blame you sheilar, They can strip a plant overnight, Little divils :) Once in a while in temper, i pelt handfulls into the borders, when im being rational, i just scatter lol.

Omg I'm using too many! what with them and the beer jars thers' definitely a party going on here!!!!!!!!

I agree with Scottish, Sheilar and its always been successful for me, but I try not to use them at all. I did an experiment with one part of the garden and another by using them in one area and not in the other and the area without pellets remained intact ,so if you want rid of slugs ,put the pellets somewhere else. I remember AlanTitchmarsh saying once,throw the pellets next door ,especially if you don't like your neighbours!lol

Oh now that sounds like a great idea..mine are prolly coming from fat neighbour's jungle!!!! Will try that one Rose!

Strange enough all the slugs have disappeared from my garden and millions of snails took their place. I like stepping on them in the morning and hear the cracking noise. Am I doing anything barbaric? If yes, I will start feeding them from tomorrow.

Same here Costas1 moslty snails here only seen one or two slugs this year.

hehehe! I like him ok hes just fat and lazy and has a jungle! He siad I could sue his garden..but..it would all need rotovated! Am no digging all that up!

Too much work....could you not get him to pay to have it rotovated?

I doubt it..spends all his money on food...and the Avon man is always takin him things! Cant imagine what..the house and him and his son arent very clean! lol Maybe he's a corss dresser or something?

You are a hoot pixie - cant stop laughing!! - sheilar I use sluggit - you water it on and around the plants and it doesn't kill the birds who may eat the dying slugs.

They always go for my Hostas. I use copper collars and beer traps but they still get the Hostas!!

Poppy - I used to use Murphy's sluggitt but can't find it anywhere locally now, so I resorted to pellets. I don't like using them but feel I've no alternative at the moment.

Maybe the Avon man brings him edible cosmetics :)

I used to have a copper pipe all down the side of the garden..it didnt stop them!

keep ya egg shells,scrunch them up and leave around plant base.to slugs its like walking on glass and you can stop them without killing them.a lot nicer than having to collect dead slug bodies.:o)

I had to laugh Sheilar when i saw all the slug pellets....My sister does the same and seems to attract the little bliters...Just a half dozen is enough per plant...:>)

Oops, no the wonder there were getting drawn in like magnets! lol
