Epidendrum Red/Orange Orchid

Epidendrum Red/Orange Orchid (Michael Weatherly)

A close up of my orange Epidendrum orchid. Fall and Winter is the prime blooming time for many orchids here in San Diego, CA. Photo taken Sept. 15, 2011. The white things going through the flowers are spider webs...the tiger spiders are everywhere this time of year.

Are they called tiger spiders because they are a bit ferocious ...:o)))

Palmate:

Thanks!

That's funny! No, I call them tiger spiders because the coloring and strips look like a tiger.

Thanks! I'm striving to take good close up photos like Meanie. I think I've got quite a ways to go, though. :>)
