This plant is growing in the ground in the shade of a large African Tulip Tree (Spathodea campanulata) in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on Sept. 15, 2011.

Thanks! Yes, this variety and others of F. triphylla are widely grown here in shade. In time they can grow to 4ft/1.2m or slightly taller.
