Sourwood

Sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum)

Didn't flower or grow very much this year (it is borderline hardy here) but the fall color is still amazing.

lovely colour

Thank you! Usually it has a much brighter scarlet-red color, much brighter than burning bush. The flowers stay on the tree through fall (this one hasn't flowered yet) and it's really a cool effect. I think this is probably the prettiest US native flowering tree

You certainly have some great trees!

Thanks, the best part about working at a nursery is being exposed to a lot of beautiful plants that are often over-looked. It surprises me that many of my favorite trees/shrubs are not more common in the trade

Yes, I can understand that. Lovely for you to be able to see them tho! I work in a supermarket - regarded as a nice one here - I have the benefit of seeing lovely food - which I enjoy cooking with. No trees tho! It is next to a canal so there is a nice but short tree-lined walk from my car to the supermarket!

Food is nice too, you can't eat trees :)
