OH bought these yesterday...I love Red Onions...big and strong flavour, good in cooking and salads...
Take a long time to grow though, but will go through Winter quite happily...They are locally grown...approx 50 in the tray...

I also like these Sue, and planted some last year in veg plot about the same time as your doing but unfortunatly they bolted this year because of the weather where we had such a warm spring, not one of them was any good.
Just be warned keep an eye on them.

Hi again Stripes...OH is going to plant the Red Onions around the side bit of garden...instead of the main Veg garden, it's more shaded, gets the morning Sun...the other Onions can go into the main Veg Plot...thanks for the tip..;)))).

Good point H...I think we'll have to put the cats on guard lol...the pigeons are a bit wary of coming down in our garden...and we covered the chicken yard with netting, as they were forever pinching their grub...

I love onions of any kind Crissue eat stones and stones of them. We have a farmer friend who grows them and when they take them up out of the fields he piles up the onions that are too small to sell and we collect what we want for our winter food. O H stores them and dries them at work in trays in his garage loft. It keeps us going all through the winter and half the village where he works. lol. everyone is well supplied at the moment with onions as they have just started to take them up in the fields. I said to him last night no point in us growing onions. lol.
