Ah maybe, but these little dainties are the ones that started off all the breeding of todays' Roses, the simple Dog Rose or wild rose...

So pretty, I remember these in my Nan's Garden...:)) and the Hips always looked so nice, I'm sure she used to do something with them, but I can't remember now...getting old lol...

Did she make Rose Hip Syrup from them? I think it used to be used for a cough treatment, for sore throat, or as like a vitamin tonic, not quite sure about what it was used for, but I can definately remember it used for something. I will try and find out.

Hi Crissue, just ask the question and Spritz kindly reminded me it was used as a vitamin C in babies bottles.Perhaps your nan used to boil them up or something and used the water as a vitamin booster.

Morning Lin...It's quite possible...probably used to tie them in her muslin and extract the syrup by boiling...
I did spend a lot of time with her, so it's quite possible, it was used as part of our Vits...good ole nanny...:)))

I love roses. They are my favourite plant in the garden & there are so many of them to choose from. So versatile too & always look great in association with other plantings.
