I videoed the small male spider on the left mating with the the much larger female on the right. I set the video camera on the tripod to film. When I returned from eating lunch, the female must have taken up my invitation to join me. She was happily munching on the little male. AHHHH!!!

When dating with the femme fatal
one has to be discreet
or she will eat right through your heart
and feast upon your feet.
The femme fatal is big and strong
and waits upon the male
to have a fast fling on the web
enough to turn one pale.
The male, if he's not fast enough
to kiss and run away
will make a meal for spidermum
after she's had her way.

You read like a future poet laureate. Lovely poem just right for the 31st October. I' better stop giving my wife a kiss goodnight as the way I'm putting on weight she'll be inviting guests for dinner
The male's life is usually sacrificed to give mum a good feed to help develop strong growth in the future eggs.
There is a spider that actually stays with the young for the first few days to make sure they are okay. The spiderling's attitude towards mum suddenly change and instead of her being mum she is her children's next meal. Talk about dedication to motherhood.
