This is looking down Canyon Blvd in Palms Springs, CA. Even though the sun was going down it was still blistering hot at more than 110ºF./43ºC. Photo taken on Aug. 18, 2011 with my iPhone.

I'm loving our weather now that it's cooled down. We've had enough of those temps. It's so nice to work on the garden now!!! I had to wake up at 7 in the morning during the summer months to get some weeding done and it was hot even at that time. yuk, don't miss it (YET).

Yes, it's dry heat. Palm Springs is located in the desert. Although, even this dry heat is unbearable...one can get heatstroke very quickly! The high temp on this day was 114ºF/45.6C. and it remands very hot all night.

I do but dry heat, humid heat is far too much like hard work !!!

During the monsoon season in the desert it can get quite humid. The heat index can go up to 140ºF/60ºC. Generally, excessive heat warnings are issued for this type of heat (by the National Weather Service).

Your homecountry is humid, isn't it ?

Only when we have the monsoonal flow. Here in San Diego it can get very humid, also. It's especially humid when we get a strong monsoonal flow. Monsoonal season is from July 1 - Sept 30 in San Diego. In the desert southwest it's from June 1 - Sept 30.

Yes, it may as well be life on Mars! It's seriously be like being in an oven. This is the first time I've been out to the desert in summer since 2003 (when I said, never again am I going to desert in summer).
I will typically go out to the desert in March, to see the flowers when the temps are around 93ºF/34ºC (comfortable).

They look great, i love them !
Is that a dry heat Delonix ?
Much easier to cope with than humidity at 90% along with it.
