From the garden bench under the big spruce, the scene is intoxicating. So much going on throughout the garden this year. All the perennials are bigger and my arranging is getting better. I am excited for next season already.

Thank you Nana, such a wonderful summer of flowers this year.
Thank you Sticki. This is from standing on my garden bench, so the hot afternoons like this I sit here in the shade and read and take it all in. :-) Seems a dream already now that we are under the white blanket here.

Thank you Lulu, Yorkshire. It has been a productive year. And yes, all cut, mulched and covered in snow...lol. Not enough for snowmen yet, but I've got a few shots.

Ah yes... isn't it interesting to go back to the early pictures and see how your efforts have changed things?! This looks wonderful, Gt. I know what you mean when you say you're planning for next year already. The dry spot in the front has been cause for some research and I've decided that along with zinnias I'm going to plant perovskia and ganzania...no more lawn! The deer are enjoying the alfalfa so will be including that too. Will have to take a page from your book and do a few more planters next season.

Lori, I've got another I've got to get on, including the lower garden in the shot. (Lots of new pic opportunities after the back property was cleared last year) It is amazing looking back how it has transformed. More to move when the time comes, as you know well enough. I like the ideas for the front spot, and containers, yes!
Thank you Gardenan. :-)

LOL! Not hybernating like a bear, cozy and warm. A small Toyostove that burns #1 diesel keeps the house very well, under $1000 a year, even today. That's the tank you can see a hint of on the left.
My landlord built the cabin, and yes, his own two hands alone. It is 6X6 four-sided log, stacked and chinked with fiberglass insulation. The roof is probably fiberglass inside foam board, behind the drywall.
As for the lawn, they've just been mowing nature for thirty years out front, all native grass so no trouble or worries for it at all. Were I to own here, I would have no trouble thinning a spot down to native grass, just mowing seems to let the grass take over.
Thank you. I'm glad you like the garden. :-)

6X6inch logs. Stacked wall construction. The cabin itself is 16x20ft.
We are having legal issues over wood burning. We have an air problem from the intense cold making smoke pool on the ground, lots of winter air quality warnings and such. But I wish I had a wood burner, so much more reliable if we lose electricity.
