I wish I had my camera with me...
If I have time tomorrow I will take some pics of Corfu town for you to see. I'm taking my mother-in-law to the airport.

Do the Cyclamen grow wild in the city, also?
25 Oct, 2011
I haven't noticed any in the city...all concrete except for parks, where would they grow?? They grow all along the side of the roads though.
25 Oct, 2011
That's exactly what I meant...the parks. I know usually the big cities have a lot of concrete. :>)

Big city, Yeah right. Corfu town would be like one of your villages. I will have a look next time I go by the parks (not many).

What's the population of Corfu town or city? It's probably a little smaller than San Diego's population, I'd guess. San Diego's population is: 1.3 million.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!
You really had me in stitches. ;o)))

Corfu
The population of Corfu was approximately 107,879.
I think you should buy yourself a plane ticket next summer and visit Corfu. You can do your tourist walk here as well.

LOL! That's funny! :>)
I guess San Diego's population is considerably larger. We're the 8th largest city (by population) in the U.S.
We used to the 6th largest until Phoenix, Arizona and Dallas, Texas surpassed us.
I assumed your population would be a lot higher because your culture is such an ancient one. However, Corfu's population is not really small. It's a decent size city.
I'd love to go to Corfu! Maybe one day...as I haven't been to Europe in a long time (15 years).

That is the population for ALL of Corfu.
You would looove Corfu. When you walk around and just see the beauty of it and forget about the every day life here. It is an amazing island. Driving around there is so much to see.
Then there are people who just want to relax on the beach all day, which is fine and I get it. But they miss so much of what Corfu really has to show them.
I've been in Corfu for 17years now....
My American friends laugh at my changing accent and the English words that fall into our conversations.
Then I get he English asking me....wow, where are you from??? I don't think I will ever lose my NY accent but there are a lot of words that are English in my vocabulary now.

Okay, that's the population of the whole island...well, that's not a big population, which must be terrific. It must be so nice a peaceful without so many people. :>)
You're from NY, originally?
It must have been culture shock to move from New York City to Corfu? New York is such a busy and noisy city with so many people! It looks like a wonderful place to visit, but I don't think I could live there, it's too crowded and cold in winter. (I've been to NYC once very briefly, years ago)

I lived in NY from six and half years old.
I came here on holiday to visit my parents when I was 27. They had decided to move here and start a new business. Anyway, my best-friend thought it would be fun to come with me for the whole summer...work and play.
She got away....
I fell in love with my hubby and decided to see how life here would be........and here I am.
Culture shock....it took me years to get used to life here!!!!
I didn't live in Manhattan, I lived in Queens. School and work in NYC. I wanted to move down to the Village in Manhattan. That's were I use to hand out. Fantastic area.
Yes, NY has cold winter with lots of snow. It has very hot, very humid summers.
You've made me home sick!!!

What an interesting life! Are you from the U.S. originally?

I was born in Corfu. Moved to Germany when I was about 3 a half, was there for a couple of years. Then moved back to Corfu to wait for our papers and then off to New York.
You have no idea how many times I've wanted to just pick up and move back!!!
How about you?

I didn't mean to ask too personal of questions. I should have pm you. :>)
I'm from Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawaii.

Don't worry....if it was too personal I would have pm'ed you. Besides, I get these questions all the time when I'm working. ;o)))
