Brugmansia Sanquinia 'Red Angel Trumpet'

Just been to a4dibble plants (online anyway) - what a place!
$4.95 for this! Even if it's small that is so cheap over here.
And a Clianthus maximus for $3.95!

Yes, she has a great selection of plants for sale, & even though they are small when they arrive, most of them seem to grow very quickly. She sells a lot of plants that one just never sees in the commercial GC. As we are just starting out on a new garden, I tend to buy some plants from GCs, which have more growth on them, & plant them up for a more instant effect, & then I will purchase other plants more cheaply from these private online nurseries, to pop in with the bigger plants.

I have two Clianthus puniceus (white and red form) that I picked up in the sale for £3 each - both were two metres tall and reduced from £15 each. Sadly they're not hardy over here!

How lovely to be able to pop them into the garden already well grown. I visited a nursery a few weeks ago which had some trees already about that height, & some a bit taller, but they ranged in price from NZ$48 up to $68, depending on how tall they were. And last week I was looking at a palm of around that height which had 50% of the selling price ..... usual price was NZ$120. Some of the more exotic palms this GC had for sale were around $350 & one was over $500! I must admit I was tempted by the palm at half price, but it would not fit into my car even with the back seat down, so it didn't come home with me & as the GC was a 35 min drive from us, would have been costly to have it delivered.

There is a nursery about 25miles from here that specialises in Trachycarpus. Their largest one, a good six or seven metres high was £1750!!

All I can say is a great big WOW! But I guess there would be years of growth to get it that big. They must transplant well for a price like that.

One thing that I can say for sure is that I'll not be finding out!
The nursery is well respected apparently.

Wow! Beautiful Brugmasia sanguinea! I used to have one, when I lived in the San Franicisco Bay Area. Your plant is full with big seeds pods. This is one of the taller growing Brugmansia species...I've sen them in Santa Cruz, CA.(which is a beach city), 30ft/10m tall.

Good grief .... it grows that big! Thankyou for telling me that, as I certainly won't have room for a tree of that size once my desired lilac & laburnum go in, & my flowering cherry grows .... & we get a couple of fruit trees in there as well ... nectarine or peach for me, & tamarillo for my OH.

Yes, it's potential height is 30ft/10m. Many times it only grows to a little more than half this height.
