Are they seedlings or grafted?

They're grafted varieties from Florida.

Jackfruit actually bears fruit in many areas of San Diego. Ong Nursery where this photo was taken has a photo album from many customers of all the fruit they (Ong) sell producing fruit in San Diego. I was very surprised to see Malay apple (Syzygium malaccense) growing and producing in San Diego. It's a very tropical tree.

There's one not too far from me that has bore big fruit the last couple of years. It's surprising because the people who own it don't really know how to take care of it. :>(

I was trying to find my pic on GoY, I couldn't find it.

I'll have to get a photo of the tree again. It's pretty large by San Diego standards.

I bought a hunk at a local market. The seeds look ready to sprout sitting in a shallow saucer of water.
I might plant some out. If they do well...one year try a graft if I can get hold of one.

Stan,

I hate to sound negative, as you know how I don't like to make definitive statements...but, I really don't think Jackfruit would grow outside in the SF Bay Area for any length of time. They are very tropical...especially young plants.

I took a very bad pic on my iPhone today of the large Jackfruit tree. I'll have to see if I can post it. I need to get a better photo with my camera.
