Very organic and original: well done! Reminds me of Antoni Gaudi's work in Barcelona. You make it sound so simple, ha! just push cement into wire: I'd be part of the fence or a statue before long. Hope you do more of this.

lol of course i will i have a tormented mind and think to much i have to express myself. ive never seen gaudi`s work.people think because i do art i know all the great artists.i know david shepherd and what he does and i know a few other names but i doubt i could tell you what they actualy specialise in lol.glad you like it
16 Sep, 2009
Google David Shepherd: you do love those beasties and we do need to learn to share the earth before we wipe out everyone's habitat. Why not google Gaudi? He was wild, art nouveau dripping sand w/ mosaics, etc.

This is fantastic!! Please give just a few more building details....... How thick is the wall and how is it stabilized? I don't see any posts. Or do I? Is is anchored to the carport posts? Do I see a metal pipe/cross piece on the left?
30 May, 2010
hello bliss the wall is about 3-4" thick though i never measured it and am guessing as we speak.it does go past the posts of my pagoda for my pond which did help hold it up .you can actualy see the side of my pond behind the wall or the roof above it . i built the pagoda first bye a long way.then i got given a lot of scrap fence wire which naturaly goes inot circles . i used electricians tape to hold the circles together and to each other .i also got given some old chicken wire which i squeezed round the fence wire giving me the thickness real.wear i could i did knock nails in and bend them over to hold this upright. the next thing is to put on a very basic layer of cement but nothing like the thickness you see here .i waited for that cement to go of then put another layer on and so on and so forth . it only needed a bit of support to hold the first bit of cement up . after that the tape, cement and odd nail combined to be strong enough to hold the next layer . i hope this has helped good luck take care bye for now .

the solid holes are actualy brick wall to keep the water in my raised pond . if you look at some of my blogs or look under nosey potter on utube you will see for yourself from a better angle .

Thank you so much for the details. I have always wanted to try my hand at some concrete work. This inspires me to play around with some.
I thought I saw water peaking through the fence. What a great design. I have enjoyed this very much. Thank you.

ps bliss if you want cement to join to old drying cement make sure theres still sopme wire sticking out or scratch the surface and keep the cement as wet as you can for as long as you can. ie wrap it up . you still only have a setain amount of time before it goes properly hard .also before you put cement on older cement make sure you wet it . you need to have a big brush that holds water that you can splash your work with . also wear gloves as the lime eats your hands .you can buy desposible ones as you get know fealing through garden gloves.you can even wear 2 pairs . blow in them first there easier to get on . yes youl get frustrated and yes you will rip them but you still will need them . im sitting here now sore after finishing i think my best cement piece ive done with lime burns wear the gloves wore through and i got ingrossed and carried on . ive done a blog on it anyway . my backs killing me to so a day of i believe lol.ow also buy some plasticiser from b & q or somewear. it water proofs the cement and makes it work better and instead of 3 sand to 1 cement like in building you have 2 sharp sand to 1 cement. the importent thing is the mixing . i use a mixer i got from ridgeons but b & Q do them for plaster . you mix all the liquids and the cement first totaly .you must wet all the cement or you get voids .also you want it thicker than for bricklaying .the way you test its consistancy is if you can make it into a ball shape and gently throw it in the air and it lands back in your hand about the same its purfect . if it crumbles its to dry if it slops flat or between your fingers its to wet . think of little red riding hood . you want baby bears porridge lol . this is critical to you getting the job done.when its dry and for anyone wanting a water feacture cheaper and out of cement get some thompsan cement sealer and put it in a mist sprayer or paint it on your dry finished article .this is great for pottery flower pots you buy to . its bye far cheaper than the products they sell at aquarists to . anyway anything else just ask . take care bye for now xx.

I know I'm late to this but it's such a fab fence, I just love it. I have a 20 meter roll of chicken wire, Meant to keep puppies at bay, it didn't! So may give it a try! Love your website by the way! I'm try to build one for my stained glass mosaics but I spend more time swearing at my computer!!

This is fantastic - did you make individual circles and then join them together, or did you make the framework entirely from wire and then push the cement in?
I could see this working really well with some school projects I have in mind and am interested in knowing how you got it to work so well.
Has it stood the test of time since you put it up? What sort of maintenance has it needed if any?
Thanks
northeastmatt

I've only just seen this but I think it's really imaginative and so different. It must make a realy nice feature in your garden. Well done.
15 Mar, 2011
lol lulu bless you x .
i built it up with circles of old thickish fencing wire with electric tape and supported the weight from above . then i squashed the old chicken wire round it and then the pre coloures cement northeastma . im adding to it soon and have had it for about 3 years . so far so good . use gloves with kiddies and perhaps keep it lower for obvious reasens . make a lovley project . wish i could help personaly but ill help as much as possible from here ok .
thanx to you to mariek better late than never .

Had a look at your website too ... nice stuff. Shame you are far from us (I think. I'm in South Wales). Love the reclining tree-man. And the elephant chimney. The hand plant pot. I'm more of a garden gnome and garden fairies and toadstools and all that "cheesey" stuff - any of those on your "catalogue"? :D
28 May, 2012
its not a catologue i make what i feal like making at the time . look up steeldreams.com i think it is . he does fantastic fairies etc . cement doesnt offer itself to delicate things like fairies etc xx .
