If this is your first orchid, do yourself a favour and get rid of the cache pot. Instead, get a deepish saucer, fill with pebbles, put water in the saucer almost up to the top of the pebbles and stand the orchid on top of the pebbles.

That's exactly what I am going to do :). I was given two moth orchids this past Spring but they are still fairly young and haven't flowered. I have them in a large glass terrarium with pebbles and they have been doing great so far.
