Drimys Aromatica/Lanceolata

Drimys Aromatica/Lanceolata (Drimys aromatica)

A small, slow growing bushy shrub ideal in woodland garden or in a sheltered site amongst other shrubs and trees. Upright growth habit with bright red stems and glossy, aromatic dark-green fragrant leaves. White flowers in mid and late spring. Sheltered position in well-draining soil - partial shade. It survived the winter and has grown well this summer.

I fancied one of these, was worried it would be too tender...

Well I did wonder, but it survived last winter..it was badly damaged and I had to cut about half of it off in the spring, but it has grown well this year, so worth a try for sure DD.

Yes, Julia, I love red stems too...this, arbutus, coral bark acer, and of course the red stems of Cornus Controversa and other Cornus! They are all lovely aren't they!

Oh, forgot to say, I have the Drimys in the warmest spot against the fence, so I've given it the best chance.
