Pyrostegia venusta - Flame Vine

Pyrostegia venusta - Flame Vine (Pyrostegia venusta - Flame Vine)

All the flame vines are blooming. This vine is a popular vine because it's winter-blooming. Photo taken at the San Diego Zoo on Jan. 17, 2012.

You never see such a spectacular display of orange over here unless it's a Pyracanthus (Firethorn)! We get bright yellows but not oranges - at least I've never seen any plant with bright orange flowers during the winter!

Balcony:

It's a tropical vine which is native to Brazil. It grows very well in our subtropical climate.

It's also a very common vine here.

Shame we can't grow it here in the UK! (Well outside a GH or heated conservatory!)

Yes, it most likely would die outside in winter, in the UK. It doesn't like frost or freezing temps.
