Really interesting - what is it?

He is a bit of stonework on one of our buildings in Manchester Sheilar..Unusually they are at eye level and not sat at the top of the building...One has been vandalised recently, poss in the riot that went on.

Beautiful masonic work. Strange that it has just one head, as in Easter European historical building dragons usually had 3 or more heads.
As you said it was at the eye level and has just one head, isnĀ“t it symbol of the watcher?
Evidently, number of heads is not a heritable feature, lol.

Maybe the watcher Katarina..It is on a Magistrates Court Building. There are quite a few of them, they all have similar faces but some look more like dogs. All of them have these leaves that on some appear to be Ginkgo.

Not very old The architect was Thomas Worthington. It was built 1867-73.
