I know there is lots can be done Gill but I seem to be doing it all wrong.
I trotted off to the Garden show at the NEC last week and bought badly.:-(
Now I'm trying to plant up and I keep finding I've bought the wrong things for the look i want.

Great landscaping design you've created. It looks like you've bought at least one maybe two Japanese maples, you can never go wrong with them ! Can't wait to see more !

What do you mean by 'bought badly'? What don't you like? There are always ways round these things.

I bought in haste Spritz ,without thinking where shrubs that will grow large would actually grow.I have two Choisyas, Ternata and Aztec Pearl,neither suitable for the windswept part of the garden but will take up much room in the precious "by the house" beds where I realistically only have room for around three large shrubs either side *sigh*.I also bought Pyracantha saphyre rouge,a Lavatera Barnsley and three Austin Rose shrubs without thinking where they would actually get enough sun.I hit the perennial stalls with a vengeance without thinking through my colour scheme (not like me) so now have lots of things that really don't "fit in" and still have three clematis that are homeless. :-)
I was angry with myself but looking at the bigger picture I haven't even started on the front.A sunny small patch of garden currently under gravel,so will transfer lots to there either in autumn or early spring.
