This photo was sent to me by my daughter from a park in North Carolinia. Can anyone identify it?

I'm pretty sure it's Ulmus parvifolia - Chinese Elm tree.
It's a very widely grown tree in California, even here in southern California.

Yes, it does. This tree is one of the Elm species which has not been too badly affected by Dutch Elm Disease. DED decimated many of the native elms trees in the U.S. in the 70's and 80's.

Yes, Dutch Elm disease did lots of damage in the UK also.
Good to know this Elm species seems more resistant :o)

It's really hardy, also. Although, in very mild climates, like in the lower elevations of California it's almost evergreen. :>)
