My Thai Dwarf Papaya fruits are getting large...the fruit can grow to 18in/46cm long. Photo taken Feb. 17, 2012.

Not sure. I hope in March sometime. Papaya fruit can take from 3 - 6 months to ripen.

They will be very sweet and tasty, once they ripen. :>)

is it a "formosa" papaya?

or a "papaia"

you can see the difference, the formosa fruit is more rounded and grows bigger... the papaia has more slim and longer fruits...and its enzymatic concentration is different
the formosa is sweeter and the "papaia" is more sour
your looks similar to the "formosa" type

Thai dwarf is a common variety here. The fruits are huge and the plant actually is pretty large for a dwarf. It could be a "Formosa type"...I'm not sure of it's origins.
