This Kalanchoe is a very common ground cover...it's available in many colors. Photo taken at Cardiff-by-the-Sea on Feb. 22, 2012.

You wouldn't believe all the plants and trees flowering right now, it's incredible! I drove along the coast today from Encinitas to Downtown San Diego, it felt like a summer's day. Everyone's out with shorts and t-shirts...that's why we love living here. :>)

Dottydaisy2:
Yes, so many tropical and subtropical plants, trees flower during the winter time here in San Diego. I'm so glad to live where there's a lot of color all year.
The Hong Kong Orchids (Bauhinia x blakeana) trees, Calliandra (haematocephala andsurinamensis) and in full bloom now. The Tabebuia impestiginosa (Pink trumpet trees), Bauhinia variegata and 'Alba' (Purple and white orchids trees) are starting to bloom, too.

So very different from here, we only have that kind of colour in the summer...

We have lot of flowering plants/trees here all year. In fact, most of the interesting subtropical/tropical trees bloom in winter.
